A week of colour

Date: 16th Sep 2022 @ 2:11pm

We have had a fun week in Reception exploring emotions and colour, through our story of the week ‘The Colour Monster’.

The children have enjoyed exploring colour mixing, finding out what happens when they mix colours together both at the creative area and in our water play.

We have investigated our sensory rice tray, finding colour monsters, subitising how many we could find and talking about what emotion each colour represents.

We have also enjoyed making shape monsters and naming the 2D shapes we have used.

We have made colour monster puppets, exploring the best way to join the materials.

On Roald Dahl day we shared the story ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ and thought about all kinds of things that he might like to eat, creating some amazing drawings of all of our ideas!

Alongside this the children have tested themselves physically whilst using the bikes, wrigglers and on our obstacle courses!

We are looking forward to another fun week as we begin learning about the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned.
