Christian Vision and Mission

Our Christian Vision

Believe, achieve and grow together in Christ.

Believe

We develop children’s self-belief by encouraging them to do their best, enjoy their school experiences and build on their own successes.

We nurture a caring and tolerant attitude to others, a readiness to celebrate their achievements and encourage each other, contributing positively to the school community.

We learn the importance of faith and how faith is important in all religions. Pupils are taught to develop their own values and beliefs whilst accepting and respecting people with different faiths to their own. They learn that differences in beliefs should not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour.

Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

Hebrews 11:1

Jesus said ..., “All things are possible for him who believes.”

Mark 9:23

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Achieve

Individuals are nurtured to be the best that they can be. Through a rich curriculum, with God’s love at the centre, we hope to enable every member of our school community to flourish. We learn to be the best that we can be through the teachings of Jesus and the stories told in the Bible.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31

They are like trees planted in the house of the Lord, that flourish in the Temple of our God.

Psalm 92:13

Grow together

At Sutton Oak, we see ourselves as a family growing together. Effective teamwork is promoted through mutual support and co-operation.

We teach children that it is ok to make mistakes and that we can learn from our mistakes as we grow in character. Learning in a nurturing atmosphere of enjoyment enables us to grow in confidence and self-esteem. Our pupils will leave the school with the confidence, ability and desire to make responsible and appropriate choices.

Through our worship and teaching, pupils and staff are able to grow in understanding of our Christian faith.

And so encourage one another and help one another, just as you are now doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

In Christ

The Bible tells us that we are all children of God. We believe that every child is known and loved by God  and that every member of our school community should be respected. This means that all are accepted and included in all that we do. At Sutton Oak we celebrate diversity and embrace difference. Teaching for equity transforms the way we think, teach, learn and act so that all experiences and ways of being are handled with fairness and justice.

In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith

Galatians 3:26-28.

Our Mission

Inspiring a love of learning, love for one another and faith in God.

At Sutton Oak, we aim to provide every child with the opportunity to develop their full potential through an inspiring and creative curriculum which will develop and create a life-long love for learning in an inclusive, supportive Christian community. We nurture the whole child, and each child is valued and able to thrive.

We aim to:

  • Present Christian Values to our children, and encourage them to develop their own sense of spirituality and the sacred.
  • Provide a nurturing, caring environment where all our children feel safe and can laugh, have fun and learn to be independent.
  • Provide rich first hand experiences which stimulate their curiosity, imagination and thinking, making learning real, fun, challenging and creative.
  • Provide learning opportunities which encourage our children to use thinking skills, enabling them to speak out and formulate their own opinions about the world around them.
  • Celebrate diversity and respect different beliefs and cultures.
  • Provide the children with knowledge and skills across the curriculum.
