Chinese New Year

We have started to learn all about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. We have made rabbit shaped biscuit as learned that it is the year of the rabbit in the Lunar calendar. Have have made clay coins and learned how to write numerals in Chinese. When they have air dried we have painted them and put them into our special red envelopes, ready to go under our chosen persons pillow on the eve of Chinese New Year. We have had a special guest, from Mrs. Farrington who is also a seamstress! She brought in her sewing machine, showed us how it works and different things she has made in her spare time. She then used felt to make some delicious foods to add to our Chinese restaurant, including spring rolls and dumplings. The children were so excited and asked so many questions!
