Western Approaches Trip

Date: 25th Sep 2026 @ 12:02pm

Yesterday, our class 6KE and Mrs Affleck's class (56DA) went on a school trip to Western Approaches, Liverpool, which is an underground bunker which was used in WWII.

After the lively journey there, we went straight down to the workshop where we did a quiz before we got started.  In the workshop, we got to learn how they rationed their food.  When we finished up the posters that we made, our class went to the communications room where we had to try and unlock morse code.  After about five minutes of working out what the code was, we went on a tour of the sleeping quarters and the commander's office and had a look at some artefacts: an incendiary bomb, baby's gas mask and a suitcase from WWII.

We were so glad we got this opportunity to experience this and we all had a SHAMAZING time at Western Approaches.
