PSHCE

Our vision for PSHCE is that all children develop the knowledge and skills they need to keep themselves healthy, safe and prepared for life in our ever changing world. We hold our Christian values at the heart of our PSHCE curriculum, reflecting on the example that Christ showed to us when considering our own choices. We believe that PSHCE is a crucial part of our curriculum, offering students the opportunity to enhance their emotional intelligence, express themselves, respect differing viewpoints, and reflect on their actions. Through this, they cultivate into confident individuals who exhibit emotional resilience in the face of life’s challenges. Key areas of fucus include the development of leadership and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to listen and emphasise with others. Through open and supportitive classroom discussions, we help children recognise when they may need support and empower them with the confidence to seek it.

We empower our children to apply their skills in various enriching experiences like sports events, field trips, and leadership roles, fostering growth beyond the classroom. We aspire for our children to be courageous advocates, who endeavour to make a positive difference to the future of our world. We aim for our pupils to develop the confidence to communicate effectively and to build and nurture positive relationships within their families, school, and the wider community. Our role is to support the development of each child’s personal identity, helping them to appreciate the value of others and to celebrate the differences that make each person unique.

While PSHCE is taught as a discrete subject, its principles are embedded and applied throughout the wider curriculum. Through this holistic approach, we all pupils with the lifelong skills necessary to play an active, informed, and positive role in society.
